I’ve experienced the benefits of dry brushing and want to share them with you. Out of the claimed benefits of dry brushing, I do know these to be true (for me.)
Benefits regarding dry brushing skin have not been evaluated by the FDA and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition.

Relieves Stress
When I dry brush my skin, it’s amazingly soothing. I start by dry brushing the bottom of my feet, from the tip of my toes to the top of my heel. I could only dry brush my feet for a minute and be done. It’s instantly relaxing! (I like to use a separate brush for my feet, body, and face.)
But, I continue and dry brush upward from my ankles to my knees. Then, from my knees to the top of my legs. You get the picture.
My point is it only takes a few seconds of dry brushing my feet, and I feel like I’m in la la spa land.
You’ll want to dry brush and then shower to wash off exfoliated skin. I lock myself in the bathroom and dry brush in the shower before I turn on the water. My family knows it’s “me time” and generally will refrain from interrupting me, which is nice.
The process of pampering yourself like this relieves stress. The tension in the body subsides and feels so relaxing. We all deserve that from time to time!
Exfoliates Skin
Dry brushing will exfoliate your skin.
Brush with care and be gentle; you’ll want to exfoliate lightly. Do not brush too hard or brush on any wounds or irritated skin.
I can tell a difference in my skin after dry brushing. It feels softer and looks brighter.
Additional Potential Benefits of Dry Brushing
I can’t prove any of the following benefits, but I know I feel more relaxed and energized when I dry brush.
Here are the other potential benefits of dry brushing:
Improves Blood Circulation and Lymphatic Flow
There are many benefits to improving your system’s circulation. Benefits include supplying nutrients to your cells and carrying off waste products like excess toxins.
“Dry brushing is an amazing hack I use for not only exfoliating skin but detoxifying and increasing blood circulation and promoting lymph flow and drainage.” – Dr. Mindy Pelz
Helps Smooth Out Cellulite
The claims are that dry skin brushing can help soften fat deposits below the skin and release toxins and excess water buildup. In theory, this makes sense.
I have yet to notice cellulite improvement, but others claim they have. That’s great! Dry brushing should not increase cellulite, so there’s no harm. It may help you that way, and it’s worth trying.
